- Ankle circles and calf raises — 10 circles each direction per ankle, plus 10–15 calf raises, to prepare the lower leg and ankle joints.
- Arm circles and gentle trunk rotations — a minute of upper-body movement if your activity involves the arms or torso.
A few practical tips
- Warm-up movements should feel easy and controlled — never rush or force a range of motion that feels uncomfortable.
- Build intensity gradually; you should finish your warm-up slightly out of breath, not exhausted.
- If a particular joint tends to bother you, spend a little extra time moving it gently before you load it.
- On cold days or first thing in the morning, joints often need a slightly longer warm-up than usual.
